Mike Cullinan (Part 4)
"I jumped up and suddenly there were all these hands reaching out and pulling me over. In the process I dropped all the weapons I was carrying. I started to go back to get them but Ski wouldn't let me(stupid). We fought all day and then about 4 or 5 in the afternoon we went in again only this time another squad led the way. There was some light fighting and we finally broke into the wood line about, I think, 6pm. We were walking around checking the area out. I was walking next to Ken Olson and a guy named Lindley. I veered off to the left a little bit, and about 5 minutes later, I heard the firing and the explosions. We knew it was Olson and Lindley, and we crawled over to help them. After about 30 minutes Lindley came crawling over and we walked him back about 100 or 200 feet. He was shot in the hand or finger, I remember trying to talk to him but he was in shock. He said Olson was killed..."

Mike Cullinan (Part 5)
"A couple minutes later Lt. Caltibiano called on the radio and talked to Capt. Ward, and told him what happened. It was starting to get dark and Capt. Ward said to pull the men out and get ready for then night. Ward said 'Are you sure he is dead?' Caltibiano said yes, then hung up the radio. A minute later Ward called back and asked 'Are you sure he is dead?' Again Caltibiano said yes. A couple of minutes later Ward called back again, for the third time, and said. 'Look, I don't want to take the chance of leaving a GI in there over night if there's a chance he might be alive.' Lt Caltibiano yelled back, 'He's dead! I saw his F------ head blow off.' Capt. Ward said 'OK, pull your men out.'"

Mike Cullinan (Part 6)
"That night was bad. It poured rain. They sent out two listen post a guy named Bruno (Duane Bruns) and I think a guy named Ted Furer. A couple of minutes later (it was dark now) they came crawling and yelling back into out camp. They said they ran right into the gooks. SGT Grey came around passing out hand grenades. He got shot in the foot right in back of Albert Brown and me. We turned to help him but he yelled 'Get back to the line - they'll be coming over here soon.' The VC - he was a tough nut. I also remember the next morning a new guy who came in as a replacement a day or two before. He got shot in the mouth. He was red faced with a lot of pimples. The bullet went, I think, in his mouth and out the back of his jaw. His face was swelled up like a coconut. The rain also filled up the area to about knee deep. Not a good night..."
