Lt. Dennis Harrison
"We were the lead platoon that day for the company. The recon platoon for the Battalion had made a major contact and was pinned down.

I was on the lead boat. We left the village and headed up stream. The banks were twice as high as the boat. We were approaching the RECON platoon when all hell broke lose..."

"From that point on, I don't remember anything except what they have told me. I don't remember or know how I got off the boat and who rescued me. All I can remember is that I woke up at the 24th EVAC hospital in Saigon and then was sent to Camp Zama, Japan were I spent 131 days and was then sent to Fort Dix, NJ for more operations.

I am in pretty good shape now. I recovered from this and went back to VN for a second tour in 1970 and was an Infantry company commander. I retired as a LTC with 27 years."
